Customer case: Elbuco

Organisation: Elbuco | Industry: Consumer electronics | Customer with IT Local since: 2024 | Number of users: 72
Elbuco is a leading player in the market for high-service leasing concepts. In the past, the company enlisted the help of the staff of Clevir, now part of IT Local, for some IT jobs. As this had gone down well, it approached IT Local in late 2023 to make the move to the cloud. Elbuco is now fully and satisfactorily in that new environment. Through good cooperation, in which their own IT staff also picked up a lot, this project could be carried out well within budget and also in a short time. You can read more about it in this case study.

Elbuco

Elbuco is a leading player in the market for high-service leasing concepts. For products as diverse as laptops, televisions, washing machines, bicycles and beds, exclusively from A-brands. With more than 50 years of experience, the company enables sustainable consumption, where a consumer or company no longer owns products, but gets access to their use with full service and maintenance included. Elbuco has no physical shops, but handles financing, storage, logistics and service to the end user for various partners. It employs about 60 people. Its head office is in Zaltbommel.

Choice based on trust

In late 2023, Anne Bouk Swildens, operations director at Elbuco, contacted IT Local to discuss the IT requirements from her organisation with IT Local. Moving to the cloud - modernising the workplace using Microsoft 365 - and a change to the severely outdated CRM system were the top two wishes. The contact had come about because Elbuco had in the past enlisted the help of staff from Clevir, now part of IT Local, for some IT jobs.

"With such a big change, you really want a partner who has experience and who you can rely on"

Another IT party was also on the shortlist to take on the project. But because the cooperation with IT Local/Clevir had been good at the time and the renewed acquaintance also turned out to be positive, the choice was made soon after the first meeting. Trust played a decisive role. Anne Bouk: "With such a major change to the IT environment, you really want a partner who is experienced and reliable, because the impact on our organisation is huge. IT affects almost all processes: from logistics and finance to communication with customers, partners and colleagues... that shouldn't suddenly come to a halt."

From on premises to the cloud

After a thorough inventory, IT Local set to work on the project. First of all, identity and access management was addressed. The Active Directory (AD) moved from local to the Azure cloud. In close consultation with Elbuco, the right roles, profiles and function groups were determined and set up. Setting up the AD was followed by the Exchange migration (e-mail, calendar and contacts) from on premises to Office 365, transferring all data from the file server to SharePoint and OneDrive, setting up Intune/Autopilot to manage devices remotely and implementing multifactor authentication (MFA) for secure login.

Pre-testing in a pilot environment

IT Local first implemented the steps above in a pilot for a select group of employees. This allowed them to test the new environment in advance and set it up to their liking. This ensured a predictable and good end result after full implementation.

Good collaboration mode

All activities were handled jointly: IT Local fulfilled the role of advisor/guide in this and Elbuco itself, mostly after a careful knowledge transfer, took care of the implementation of the actions. Because it was clear beforehand that Elbuco wanted to continue managing the environment itself, with the exception of licences and Microsoft 365 backup.

"We really pulled together throughout the process"

Anne Bouk: "We really worked together during the process. It took some searching at first, but we eventually found a good mode in which our IT people Marco and Jaimy took on all management tasks and could turn to IT Local for questions and support in their work. This also occurred regularly during the migration, for example when setting up Intune. Our applications were not immediately ready to be deployed via Intune, The IT Local specialists then helped to solve this technically."

On schedule and within budget

Good cooperation, based on a fortnightly meeting combined with a joint project document, and Marco and Jaimy carrying out tasks themselves made it possible to successfully complete the project within the planned time. And stayed well within the predetermined budget.

And... of course, also not unimportant.... Elbuco is happy with the new IT environment, which runs well and is more modern and secure. The foundations for migration to the new CRM system have also been laid. Implementation of this will take place soon. And for after that... a next step? Anne Bouk: "Definitely! Together with IT Local, I want to look at further steps in the field of security. Think of a security awareness programme with which we can train our employees in recognising phishing emails. I am also curious about the possibilities of Copilot for our organisation, this is something I would like to test in practice."
